IMITATING AEROPLANES H.I.T.S.

If you’re yet to familiarise yourself with the Norwegian tour-de-force that is Imitating Aeroplanes, then this third single is an excellent place to hop on board. This duo are none other than Tord Øverland Knudsen (The Wombats) and Marius Drogsås Hagen (Team Me), an impressive pairing who have both enjoyed global successful, five album releases, a Norwegian Grammy Award and multiple MTV and NME Award nominations. However, with new project Imitating Aeroplanes, Knudsen and Hagen are starting afresh. Those paying attention will have already heard textural wonderments ‘Hourglass’ and ‘Stomping Ground’. Their newest release is ‘H.I.T.S.’, a song for brisk walks; for getting through a heavy workload; for finding fresh motivation as you’re propelled by the marching beats and surging synths. Despite the inspiring feel of the track, the meaning behind it is almost entirely opposite. The initialism stands for ‘Head In The Sand’, and as the pair explain, there’s no high concept behind this song, “it’s about avoiding confrontation and just burying your head in the sand." If their sand is made from luscious electronic-pop and fiery guitar outbursts like this, then we also wouldn’t mind blocking out the world for a good while and playing ‘H.I.T.S.’ again and again. - HT
